disclaimer on this entry this is written totally about my day this time because...I HAD A FUN DAY! DEAL WITH IT JUST THIS ONCE, I NEVER WRITE LIKE THIS! thank you.
the second of three saturdays where i get little to no sleep. ah yes, i woke up yesterday about the same time i would for a regular school day to go up to the school for national youth service day. kristen, elsbeth and i were signed up to work at the library, heh, that ended up being totally pointless.
let's see, they had us sitting around for the first hour eating bagels and donuts. yeah, that's helping the community. we got done with that, and find out that mrs. mock is in charge of our group (my english teacher last year). so, we all start walking to the library, an older woman with nine kids. that had to look interesting in the ghetto. kristen elsbeth and i were tlaking the whole time...when elsbeth wasn't complaining that we were walking too fast. anyway, we got there, found out that they actually DIDN'T need us, and we had to walk right back.
by this point, i'm starting to feel bad. all the other groups were working, most of them doing flowers and landscaping in front of the school, and there we are without jobs to do. it got the the hour and a half work time left point, and we still had nothing to do. sure, we threw away some old scenery from plays for the theatre, but that was all in one trip, and there wasn't even enough for all of us to get some. i looked over and saw ashley and carol and everyone else actually woking, and i felt bad cause i was there WANTING to work, but there was no job for me to do.
when there was about an hour left, we got trash bags that mrs. tommer had to go out and buy, and went around picking up trash. well, someone had the bright idea of walking over to the soccer field and doing it there. there was more trash on the way to and from than there was there...there was NONE at the field. so, we turned around and picked up trash on the way back to school. we get back, there's still a half hour. (and i found out that i can walk a mile in about fifteen minutes now ^^.) so, for some reason that was unknown and forever WILL be unknown to me, they had us throwing away...dirt. ok, see, my school isn't rich enough to be throwing away dirt. it was whatever they had dug up from putting in the mulch that they had us throwing away, but there are other ways they could have used it! the funny thing is, we're all still getting five community service hours for this...that's kinda sad.
so, we get done with that, they have us go eat these little packed lunch things. we all got the idea that we got the rejects. i mean, you couldn't bite through the sub sandwich cause the bread was hard as hell. i managed anyway. the little mini snickers they gave us tasted REALLY weird, and we got extremely hard cookies. hey, at least it was free and it wasn't school food. there was a lot of talking at the lunch table, and at some point we got into "you might be a redneck if..." which got sort of interesting.
at some point, carol had asked if she could drive me home, so i got kristen's cell and called mom. o my goodness, she went off on me cause i wouldn't be able to call when i was leaving the school. but, she said i could go. turns out that carol kinda needed to air out her car *cough cough*, so we drove around a while. somehow, we ended up at the quiktrip (gas station) off of state avenue, a totally different direction than we needed to go, and i bought some chocolate sunflower seeds. mmm, those things are good......anyway. then we got to the wal-mart closer to home and bought some febreeze and car freshners, cause driving with all the windows down wasn't helping much. dammit, that was fun, especially cause i called dad on teh road and he said it was alright cause i told him we were "running errands for her mom that she forgot she had to do." heh heh.
we get back here, and she sprays her car down and comes inside a while to let it dry. dude, she had it dripping off the steering wheel. that's a little much, lol. we sat around listening to music a while, then she left cause she was starting to fall asleep. that's not good if you have to drive, heh.
dammit yesterday was so fun. i hope state next weekend is somewhere near as fun as that was, cause it felt good to get out of the house and be with friends all day. i wasn't home till about two thirty, and we left the school at one.
sorry this has been totally boring for a lot of you, but, yeah, this time, i had to just write about my day...i had fun for the first time in a long time.
